Zohreh Homel Azimi Real Estate Licence Suspended | Stuff.co.nz

An Auckland real estate agent has had her licence suspended pending the outcome of mortgage fraud charges.

Zohreh Homel Azimi is charged with misconduct under the Real Estate Agents Act for allegedly allowing a fraudulent loan application to be made in her name to KiwiBank to buy a house in New Lynn, west Auckland.

She is also charged with misconduct over her alleged part in a fraudulent mortgage scheme involving four other Auckland properties.

The Real Estate Agents Authority claims that between 2007 and 2011 Azimi listed, sold, re-listed and sold the properties again knowing that she was doing so as part of the fraudulent arrangement.

The properties were in various parts of the city - in Sunnyhills, east Auckland, Paihia Road in One Tree Hill, and two homes next door to each other in Hillsborough Road, Waikowhai.

The Real Estate Agents Disciplinary Tribunal gave notice last month that Azimi faced suspension because of the charges against her.

"We do consider that the evidence before us... discloses serious wrongdoing such that there is a serious risk to the public if Ms Azimi remains able to continue to practice as a real estate agent pending the outcome of the charges," it said.

She had 10 working days to respond but did not do so, and as of yesterday has had her licence suspended for nine months or until the hearing of the charges.
