Despite the convenience of the cloud, there are still quite a few security concerns that experts have with the platform. According to a recent survey conducted by the National Cyber Security Alliance, 30 percent of respondents believe connecting to an unsecured network can lead to cybercrime.

?The internet is an incredible resource for connecting with people but as we conduct more of our lives online, we must remain mindful that there are bad actors using it to track, harass or make unwanted contact, and these criminals are more resourceful than ever,? said Michael Kaiser, executive director of the National Cyber Security Alliance.?

How can entrepreneurs protect themselves from cybercrime?
Cybercrime is becoming a much bigger problem for small business owners as the cloud is becoming a larger part of operations. A recent article for ZDNet summarized some of the main points of the NCSA report that small business owners can use to make sure they remain safe online. Below is a list of some of the tips that could lead to better internet security.

? Select strong, complex passwords: When using the internet and cloud to securely store information, small business owners should stress to their staff to choose login information that would be tough to decipher in order to avoid any potential hacking incidents.

? Invest in a reliable security solution: Important business files are too critical to a firm to have them on a computer or cloud infrastructure that isn?t secured with an antivirus software. Solutions that scan files regularly and check for viruses can help small business owners secure their data.

? Train employees on security measures: All staff members should know how important critical business data is and what they can do to protect it. For many small firms, their data is all they have and they can?t risk losing it or having it become compromised by cyberthieves.

? Create a disaster plan: Small business owners who do suffer from data loss need to make sure their information is backed up in some way. Waiting too late can mean data is gone forever.
