Friday Author Interview Series: Sally Bonkrude - You can Self-Publish!

?I spent days and all night reviewing my work and thinking it wasn?t right, finding mistakes and wanting to throw the whole thing out the window.?

How did you get started writing your book? Or what inspired your book?

After reading tons of books on overcoming performance anxiety and researching the triggers of anxiety and how it manifests in performance, I spent years primarily working with clients with anxiety.? I worked with professional musicians, public speakers, and folks with general anxiety.? I discovered new ideas on what really worked and the importance of customization in positive results.? The more I worked, I more I knew I had a book here.

What was the hardest part about completing your book?

The most difficult part of completing my book was right before we went to print.? I just couldn?t turn it over to be printed.? I spent days and all night reviewing my work and thinking it wasn?t right, finding mistakes and wanting to throw the whole thing out the window.? I realized I was experiencing a high amount of performance anxiety.? The ultimate characteristic of performance anxiety is avoidance, for me it was avoidance of putting my book out to the world.

Did you learn any lessons in the book creation process, if so what where they?

The importance of choosing positive, experienced, people that also have a huge amount of integrity.

Did you enlist support in getting your book done? If so, what kind of support?

I started with a writing coach, that turned out to want to hi-jack my work.? Then, I had someone do my layout and design, plus worked with the printer.

What tips or advice do you have for aspiring authors?

Find a community of people that have written and are currently writing and learn from their experience.

If you self-published, what made you self-publish?

I always knew I wanted my book to be one that was sold with my speaking and workshops.? It didn?t make sense to seek out a major publisher.

If you had to do your book all over again, would you?

Yes, I can?t not write?

Now, I am continuing to write but in a very different way.? I?m planning on writing a chapter a week and putting it on my website for people to comment on?to be apart of my writing process.? I plan to write shorter books that can be downloaded from my website.? We live in a world where, in my opinion, we have way too much information.? So the shorter the version the better. Connecting to your audience and collaboration in the process is key.

Are you writing or planning to write an additional book(s)?

Yes, I plan writing more books to be apart of my life until I can?t.

What else would you like to share about you or your book?

My book is a reflection of me, my values and how I work intuitively and compassionately.? It?s about embracing the gifts of childhood.

How can people find out more about your book?

My book is: Conscious Performing?from fear to freedom! By Sally Bonkrude

You can find my book online:?Amazon and my website: www.positiveinnerchange.com
