Continuing our report from Nintendo of Japan?s latest Nintendo Direct Stream, Nintendo JoySound is a karaoke application on the Wii U. It is currently unknown whether this will reach territories outside of Japan.

A microphone peripheral was shown in two packages: seperately and bundled with Nintendo JoySound. From this we can speculate that JoySound will not be a built-in feature, but a retail game.

As for launch game New?Super?Mario Bros. U, the overworld map was appears to share more likenesses with that of Super Mario World?s than ever before. It is huge and seems larger than all previous instalments, including grassy, desert, and ice worlds. Mario was seen riding a mine cart, and other attractions on the map included a shipwreck.

Here are more details:

• The Nabbit character we reported on before was shown in gameplay. It is a very fast enemy that Mario must chase down in levels.
• The blue bubble Yoshi was also revealed in action, shooting bubbles from its mouth and allowing Mario to float.
• Using the GamePad, a player can kill enemies by tapping on them.
• Mii Mode allows you to use your Mii as a playable character.
• Coin Battle was shown, allowing the GamePad user to determine where to place Star Coins.
